Environment-friendly quality labels
EU Ecolabel
All Claro products, such as dishwashing and cleaning detergent and dishwasher tablets, have been certified with the EU Ecolabel. The EU Ecolabel is the European environment quality mark for non-food products and services and aims to promote sustainable production and consumption.
All countries in the European Union as well as Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland have recognized this quality mark. Products (and services) carrying the EU Ecolabel have been manufactured with a reduced environmental impact on:
- raw materials
- energy
- water
- harmful substances
- waste
- packaging
OK Biobased TUV Austria 4 stars
The OK Biobased dishcloth and floor cloth have both been certified by TUV Austria with a 4 stars OK Biobased quality label. This is the highest possible number of stars, meaning that the product consists for 100% of bio-based raw materials.
The dishcloth and floor cloth are made entirely of a combination of PLA and Viscose. PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) is an environment-friendly material, made of organic raw materials such as sugars from food crops (corn, sugar beet, sugarcane) and wheat or cellulose. PLA complies with the European industrial decomposing norm EN-13432. Nonwovens made from synthetic starch, produced conform this European standard, are biodegradable.
Fairtrade
A number of our coffee and tea products carry the Fairtrade quality label.
Fairtrade helps farmers and labourers in developing countries to acquire a better place in the commercial chain, thus enabling them to live off the fruit of their labours and to invest in a sustainable future. Fairtrade is a quality mark as well as a worldwide movement. In The Netherlands, the Max Havelaar Foundation owns the Fairtrade quality label, which is also known as the Max Havelaar quality label.
ICEA
All WS Pure care products carry the ICEA quality label.
ICEA is the main certifying body of natural cosmetics in Italy.
The Italian Society of biological agriculture (AIAB) and the Certification Institute for Environment and Ethics (ICEA), have, together with a group of manufacturers, developed leading standards for natural and organic cosmetics. Cosmetics complying with the strict requirements, receive the status of organic. All stages of the production process are checked:
- no artificial additives and no use of gen technology during the production process;
- everything involving waste, energy, transport and sanitary and hygienic standards is strictly regulated;
- production and storage are executed conform strict ecological regulations;
- ICEA controls are executed several times a year and include controls on the production locations.
Forest Stewardship Council seal of approval
The FSC quality label provides certainty the raw material for (among other things) paper and paper products comes from responsibly managed forests worldwide.
This means that a balanced account is taken of the ecological, social and economic aspects associated with forest management. If (pulp of) FSC-certified wood is used, the CO₂ absorbed by the tree will also largely remain fixed in the product during its useful life. The quality mark does not set any requirements for the production process of paper or cardboard. FSC certification is not carried out by FSC itself, but by independent certifying organisations.
